Writing to Stay Human

A Voice Through Written Words

In a world full of voices, distractions, and fear reaching for our attention I will be a voice of kindness.

I haven’t been writing lately because I just want to scream and fight. I know there is no progress in an eye for an eye, in fighting fear with rage.

Instead I have been widening my perspective to see past the stories social media is pushing on any given day. I’ve also been deleting social media from my phone, a lot!!

I didn’t know who Charlie Kirk was before he was assassinated.

Everyone’s media is targeting their believes, even Spotify targets me with open minded artists.

Lately though I’ve been searching to learn about Charlie Kirk so now I’m seeing different perspectives.

The other day I was listening to a Spotify playlist and this song Charlie came on. It’s catchy and caught my attention.

He starts out with—“Another woke coward took a life with a gun”

I’m so tired of the hatred and the narratives the patriots and dangerous woke people are the terrorists.

Liberals are celebrating murder like it’s justice.”

I’m pretty sure in this song I am considered the woke, the liberal and the terrorist. Yet I haven’t seen anyone celebrating this murder. I know I haven’t.

It made me look up the word ‘woke’. How has this word become an insult? Become a problem?

(This is the Charlie song)

CHARLIE By TomMacDonald

This artist says he’s tired of the hatred and yet this catchy song is full of hatred toward anyone with different believes than his.

Here’s another catchy one line, “the devil lives in California, cause the devil is a democrat.”

The Devil Is A Democrat By Tom MacDonald

The beats, the lyrics, it’s catchy, saying “they” want war “they” don’t want peace.

I’d argue that “They” aren’t the democrats in California.

“They” are anyone who has hate and can’t tolerate difference.

Peace ✌️

Love ❤️

Human Rights 🥰

That’s what matters.

I went a little deeper into his songs and found this one from three years ago. This song is creative and takes a wider perspective. This view has power, intellect, shows the dualities and complexities of life.

The System By Tom MacDonald

I guess in honor of free speech, creativity, and the first amendment I am writing about Tom MacDonalds song.

All I know is violence isn’t the answer.

Treat yourself and those around you with kindness and do what you can to cultivate kindness toward hatred and violence because an eye for an eye will leave us all blind.

Love Always,

Danielle Mallett
