Managing Chronic Pain When Nothing Seems to Work

This one is for anyone living with chronic pain. It could be chronic low back or neck pain that returns at random times and it might feel like nothing you do helps it.

It could be chronic pain that moves around into various joints and you never know what’s going to act up.

It is frustrating!

It is scary!

It feels isolating, limiting, and can lead to depression.

If you’re someone struggling with chronic pain I wanted to share a few things that have helped me and my clients over the years.

#1. Don’t give up on caring for your body and mind even when it feels hopeless!

#3. Writing for Mental Health and Sanity

#4. Focusing on what is working and what does feel good, even if it’s just your hands.

#5. Guided meditations that help your body relax by calming the chronic stress associated with chronic pain.

#6. Focusing on the pain that is leaving the body and not dwelling on the pain that’s present.

#7. Allowing space for the pain to be and do what it needs to do and giving space to feel into other parts of the body and mind.

#8. Intentional, slow, and safe strength training, which I know sounds like the last thing you want to do when you’re in pain and yet it can help.

#9. If you’re a woman notice if your pain flares up during certain times in your cycle and start researching hormone health.

Personally, my old aches and back chronic pains have been returning a few days before my period. At this point I am reminding myself my period is on its way, instead of feeling defeated and over analyzing why my body feels like it’s going backward.

Sometimes simply being aware of the physical and psychological symptoms associated with our menstrual cycles can help.
