Focused Plan Moving Forward

What Am I Writing About?

As soon as I decided this Substack will be organized I lost the motivation to write. This coupled with having a steady 70 people reading most of my posts has me questioning what I’m writing about.

As an over thinker, someone with too many creative ideas, and lack of sleep from being a caregiver, I don’t like putting boxes around myself and yet, a little organization and focus helps me stay grounded.

I am simultaneously celebrating every one of you readers and feeling grateful beyond words, and it’s kind of freaking me out, in the best way.

Focused Plan

So here is the focused plan moving forward in case you missed it. I’ve also added more details and plans for the months ahead, because why not?

Weekly Lineup

  • Movement Mondays → thoughts on the challenges of moving and befriending our bodies, self-care as a caregiver, and simple movement practices for everyone.

  • Mom Life Be Like… Wednesdays (Staring January 2026, Don’t miss it!) → new chapters from my upcoming book, Mom Life Be Like…→ An honest, funny look at pregnancy through postpartum. *Every other week these posts will be free for you to enjoy and if you’d like to read all of them come join the GetWellwithDanielle community. Each month I will be donating to various causes that I care deeply about and I’ll share with you how much we raise.*

  • Creative Fridays → reflections on writing, creativity, and how to keep your spark alive through all seasons of life.

Keeping Your Creative Spark Alive

This is different depending on which season of life you are in and yet maybe it’s not. Maybe it’s always as simple as doing something, anything creative. Make a necklace. Do pottery. Draw. Knit. Collect plastic bottle caps and make photos out of it by screwing them into art. Like this:

“you keep your spark alive by continuing to be creative every chance you get.”

The thing about kids is they love creativity. They enjoy coloring, drawing, creating worlds, playing, that’s all they ever want to do. We lose touch with that part of ourselves because we have to work and get shit done.

Instead of doing that extra load of laundry and dishes, sit down and color with your kids if you have them. Even if you are just doodling, drawing spirals and shapes, let yourself color.

Personally I love having a journal and filling it up with writing, sometimes drawing and sometimes clips from magazines. Here are a couple of the things I’ve put in my journals at random times. I’d love to see what you’re doing to keep your spark alive. Share it with me in the comments!

Stay creative!

Love Always,

Danielle Mallett
