Doing Less Together: An Accountability Group
Something I have learned or am still learning is that sometimes when I add more to my plate, I need to also take something off.
I am notorious for adding more. Is it me or the cultural praise we get for adding endless things, busying ourselves, and appearing as if we can do it all?
None of us can do it all.
We all crack under the pressure because we are humans not robots. Still I will try to add more to my list if there is any opening.
Here’s what I notice that tells me I need to reassess my plate:
I feel irritable and overwhelmed more often
I feel panicked underneath the overwhelm
I resist slowing down and being kind to my body
My thoughts start in on taking me down
So this time I am not going to stay in this place for a long time and add more until I burnout.
Nope!
This time I’m taking somethings off my plate.
I will still write what I said I would because showing up here matters to me. I feel called to build a genuine community on Substack.
Weekly posts will still be in the framework of:
Insert rundown of posts from Mondays-Fridays
Only instead of 2 new weekly posts there will be 1 new lost and possibly a recycled one each week.
One new post a week on a Monday.
One new post a week on a Friday.
Back and forth until May2025 when I will release Wednesday posts from my next book, Mom Life Be Like…Pregnancy—Postpartum.
Now you know what I have taken off my plate.
The thing I have added to my plate is an accountability group here on Substack 👏
Come join the chat for free. Check in daily with your daily minimum of push ups, squats, cat/cows, whatever it is you need to get moving daily.
Check out this post for some ideas.

If you join and you feel inspired to donate all of your donations will go to one of these 12 organizations.
chservices.org Hope.Help.Here
Each month I will be transparent about how much we raise and where it is going.
This space is a place for you to come check in daily, weekly, monthly, whatever supports you the best.
It’s a place to care for yourself and get encouragement from others doing the same. Investing $5-$10 in this group will keep you coming back for more AND it will go directly to an incredible cause.
It is possible that the better we take care of ourselves the better we can take care of each other.
Thank you for reading these posts, for being a part of this slow growing community, and for navigating this Substack space with me.
Love Always,
Danielle Mallett
