All Our Little Steps Matter

The other day, I met up with a group of people for an event called Roots of Change.

Leading up to the even I put too much unnecessary pressure on myself for it to be perfect.

I know perfection is an illusion, but that doesn’t mean my mind lets up on it.

Once in person with everyone, my nervous system settled. All of the people out there on that sunny, windy day were there to connect.

They all came out to meet new people, to gather with friends, to be a part of a community interested in being the change we need.

We circled up to introduce ourselves. Children ran about.

New people arrived after dropping off their husbands and juggling one car.

Families had to leave to put down their dog, who was with them for 17 years.

Families had to head out to doctors’ appointments.

Families had to balance the needs of 3 young children to make it.

Families showed up before heading out to visit a friend at the hospital.

Families prioritized time spent outdoors with the community over time spent alone with their family, even though they are introverted.

After the event, one of the women who runs @gratitude.garden.831 sent a note, and in it she said,

“Little Steps—Big Changes”

I needed to hear that.

Maybe you do too.

All of our individual little steps matter and lead to others’ big changes over time.

All my love!
