Showing Up Imperfectly

I reached 33 days of writing.

Did I do them all one day after the next?

NO, I didn’t.

Did I start a workout routine, a meditation routine, a new food program, and start summer time with my children?

Yes, I did because I find it hard to not over do it.

I’m often staring at a mess feeling unable to move or over cleaning, cooking, playing with my kids, doing yard work, working, you know doing all the things until I can’t move and must sit still.

Somedays I have more balance than others.

I know what I need to do, but I am a human not a robot.

I am no longer shaming myself for being human, for being imperfect, for having highs and lows, these things just mean I am human.

These are crazy times we are living in. If you, like me find yourself scrolling on social media and feeling tapped out you are not alone.

I have recently taken my email and social media off my phone again, because otherwise I will fall into depression and not be able to care for my family or myself.

What are you doing to protect your mental health?

How are you staying engaged, but not doom scrolling and letting fear take over your precious body and mind?

If you find old habits creeping in, it’s okay, it’s normal. Maybe you are watching too much TV, drinking, smoking, over eating, going numb, whatever it is it is temporary if you get back to your center. Back to your body.

What you put into your body and mind right now matters.

We can’t stop paying attention to what’s happening, but we can keep our eyes open while protecting our hearts.

I am doing uncomfortable things like putting myself out in communities that I am not a part of.

I will not stay isolated and hide away with my family. We need each other, I know this in my bones.

Whatever you can do to reach out to friends or neighbors, or new communities in your area, do it.

If you feel strongly about LGBTQ rights, find a group around you and be an ally, go support them.

If you feel strongly about supporting undocumented people and children and you have money to donate, give to organizations on the front lines who are protecting innocent children.

I made some fliers with a few organizations you could get involved with or if you're in California and interested in calling your federal government I got everything together in one place.

Let me know if this is helpful.
